Many students look forward to these weeks of rest and relaxation. But, don't forget your travel insurance, especially if you are going outside the U.S. You will not be covered under your parents' domestic insurance plan.
If you are looking for a travel insurance plan outside the country there are several inexpensive ones that provide excellent coverage. You can choose a $0 deductible plan with a maximum coverage ranging from $50,000. to $1,000,000. Usually your cost for a 7-day trip will be between $8.75-$13.13. The Atlas International Plan offers great benefits such as Bag Trak, lost passport or travel documents, 24 hour assistance, emergency cash transfers, live travel services, emergency medical evacuation and so much more. Also check out InternationalStudent.com. They have great discount student travel information.
So even if you don't use your travel insurance plan you will have the sense of security knowing you are covered while you are abroad.

Cruise Travel Insurance for Everyone
Most people don't want to think of any kind of travel insurance for their trip. They don't want to think of the possibility of having something tragic happening on their vacation. So here is what you need to know about cruise travel insurance.
Many people question whether or not they need cruise insurance. Thinking the travel agent and cruise line offer that in the original package. So many cruise ships are registered out of Panama, and U.S. based health insurance policies do not cover you outside the U.S. And treatments by doctors and nurses on board cruise ships are not included in your cruise fare.
Your cruise travel policy becomes effective at 12:01 the day AFTER you purchase it.
Be prepared to solve the problem on your own and be reimbursed by the insurance company later. If you keep all receipts it should take at least 14 days before the insurer determines your final compensation.

Travel Pet Insurance
If you take your pet when you travel, make sure to do your homework about pet travel insurance.
Some airlines do not let four-legged family members tag along, and there are restrictions based on the size and whether the pet is going to ride in cargo or in the cabin with the owner. There are also seasonal restrictions and not all hotels are pet-friendly.
So what else to do?? How about a pet sitter or kennel. Make positive they are insured and already have a steady clientele.
If you insist on taking Fido with you on your travels do your homework in advance. Check with the airline or travel agent directly. Check out websites like bringfido.com. They offer information about pet-friendly hotels, as well as tips on traveling with pets.

Travel Insurance Products
Since 9/11, the travel insurance industry has grown rapidly. Americans now spend more than 1 billion dollars annually on travel insurance products with about 30% of travelers purchasing one type of coverage or another.
Prices vary considerably for these policies, ranging from under $100. to several hundred dollars depending on what they cover, how long you'll be away, and whether or not you have any preexisting conditions. Even more than usual, reading the fine print is essential.
If you decide you want to buy coverage, do so only through a third-party insurance company. There is a risk to buying it from a tour operator or cruise line. That advice also applies to some travel agency coverage as well. Make sure you buy your travel insurance from a company licensed in the state in which you live.

Travel Insurance Secrets Revealed
Tourism is a growing industry worldwide, so are undesirable things like terrorism, accidents, disease, etc. Travel insurance provides you insurance coverage during travel to a foreign country or on long trips.
There are a variety of travel insurance policies available today on the internet. It's easy to get confused, but most have the same basic benefits. They usually provide coverage for trip cancellations, medical costs, accidents and loss of baggage.
Make sure you read the fine print closely. You will want to notice the sections covering deductibles, co-insurance, specific limits, exclusions, hotlines, and emergency services. Also make sure to ask about anything you do not understand.
With the proper travel insurance policy, planning and careful preparation, you'll be ready for anything.

Travel Insurance Credit Card Perks
According to Money Expert.com, credit card holders can now expect better travel insurance perks. But many customers may never use this bonus.
Only one in three holiday travelers put their vacations on a credit card, which means they qualify for some travel coverage without realising it. Since many people might not know they are covered they may be duplicating their coverage.
Travel insurance is one of those bonuses for credit card holders- but only if you know you have it. Many of us buy travel insurance before a vacation without thinking to check the features of our credit card. It always makes sense to buy specialist travel insurance but you should check what your card offers.

Travel Insurance??
As for travel insurance, I'm covered through work under my medical benefits package. Check there first. But, the chance of me making a claim on my travel insurance is not any time soon.
Buying travel insurance is not an exact science and not necessary for most trips. A recent "Smart Money" report suggests 5 reasons or trip types where purchasing travel insurance should be considered:
-Trips that are a long way off
-Expensive trips
-Complex Plans
-Cruises
-Package Deals

Travel Insurance Companies
According to the U.S. Travel Insurance Association, travel insurance is a "must have" if you are flying this season. The real question is- is it necessary?
You read all the anti-insurance testimonials that it is a scam and a scare tactic. And there have been cases, like the couple that got sick on a cruise ship, spent an hour in the infirmary, and received a $1600. bill- despite having health insurance, traveler's insurance and insurance purchased through the cruise line. Again, the glasses, reading the fine print.
Taking all things into account that sometimes occurences will happen on any trip. But can you be fully prepared for everything? Or nothing?

Rental Car Travel Insurance
We are driving from Florida through Louisiana and on to Colorado this summer. When we start this trip we are going to get a rental car. Where I'm from the first name that comes to mind is Hertz, but believe me there are so many others.
Of course, when you think rental car there is so much that goes into planning. Rates, pick up and drop off locations and of course, rental car insurance. There are so many hidden cost involved.
Rental insurance contracts include you being personally responsible for any damage to the car and injuries or property damage. Your own auto insurance may not cover everything-so you will need to buy coverage at the rental counter.
So many questions. How rates are calculated, size of the vehicle, even unlimited mileage or capped rate.
We do not want to take the family car and put it through this punishing trip. But, all this added car insurance is making me think I won't be bringing back as many souvenirs.

Travel Insurance for a Sportsman?
Ever heard of that?? I haven't until recently when my friend went on a lone trip to the Alaskan wilderness.
He's the adventurous type, needs no help from anyone.
He went on a 200 mile excursion in unfamiliar territory. He was in a kayak and about 5 miles in lost his only paddle. With the water racing, he was submerged in freezing water twice.
When he got to shore, soaking wet and hypothermia setting in, he was able to drag his kayak about a mile to a camp he had previously set up.
He called his wife by satellite phone just before he was drifting in and out of consciousness. She in turn contacted this Sportsman's Travel Insurance people he had acquired before he left on this trip. They had evacuation helicopters come in and he was rushed to the hospital where he stayed for several weeks.
This Sportsman's Insurance also sent someone back to get his gear that was left behind.
For the $104.00 he spent on insurance, the cost of his rescue of over $10,000.00 was covered completely.
Now, looking back, I wish we hadn't made fun of him for buying it. He knew more than we.

Travel Insurance by Plane
Flight insurance, sometimes known as flight life insurance, these days is a must.
First off, flight travel insurance is accidental death and dismemberment insurance for injuries resulting from an accident or crash of your airplane flight. Makes you not want to go at all!!
Since commercial travel is quite safe now, the payment for flight insurance is relatively inexpensive.
Make sure you check your credit card company. Mine provides limited flight or travel insurance benefits (emergency evacuation and baggage delay) when my travel is charged with that credit card.

Time to think of vacation
The time of year has come when you start thinking about getting away from it all. That means vacation. But it also means buying travel insurance.
When you think of medical emergencies and weather, things can occur when you least expect it forcing you to cancel or interrupt your trip.
Travel accident insurance and travel medical and health insurance are things you need to include in your "to do" list before striking out on the road.
This way your "investment" of a vacation is protected where ever you go.
Your regular medical insurance may not cover you outside of the country. I found that out the hard way in Mexico one year. My regular coverage did not include medical transportation.
It is very important to have that and medical and dental coverage for any emergencies that may ruin your trip.
